Two Scenarios. Fighters were always naked either in battle or in the arena.

One takes place in a desolate area with one-on-one combat. The winner walks away. The loser is left for the wolves.

The other action is before a festive audience. In the arena, captives from defeated armies were matched against each other before large crowds. Winners were given the choice of life as a naked gladiator or joining the ranks of the victorious army. Wagers were made not only on who would win, but also on whether either fighter would shoot his load. More often than not, both men shot their wads. But only one walked away.

Which scene would you like to be part of? My own fantasy would be to fight naked in the arena.

I’d go for a deadly encounter in the wilderness…man against man and nature

But Atticus was captured into slavery and now can only hope to win his freedom by enthralling the crowd and Emperor… All hail Atticus champion of Rome!

Wilderness has a lot of appeal. There's the finality of it all ending with only the remains of the loser left on the ground for a traveler to discover at a later date.

Personally, I'd go for the wilderness .... but only if somehow Atticus won his last battle and was granted his freedom ... only to face a rival in the woods who ambushes and kills him ... his taste of freedom short-lived.

But Atticus has won many battles in the arena ... if he must die ... it seems fitting his life ends there.
