Someguy, you are to be applauded for the effort and expense you put into these. I will have to devise a method of posting some of my classic stuff to this board for you and others to see. I know there are a few clips still on Youtube, I'll try to find links.
As to area hits, with my guys the prime target spots (and we called them that) were pretty much navel ("right in the belly"), and midway between navel and cock ("right in the guts"). We differentiated those because the muscles and organs being pierced resulted in different reactions. I only had a few guys who were comfortable taking it in their dicks...and my justification was always to suggest that their cocks were being pinned upright against their lower bellies, with the arrow, bullet or spear or whatever weapon continuing on into their guts.
