Unnecessary violence is a turn off for me. I prefer close contact skin on skin where two or more protagonists are involved in a fight for survival in an era or setting where tribal conflict would set the scene. I also like to explore strange alliances and a possible betrayal scenario. Therefore I find a Native American theme attractive because survival was a strong motivation for such a setting. My depictions are a fantasy version and it is important to me not to disrespect true Native American culture. I may introduce cowboys to my stories but they have to be shirtless and armed with a knife.
