Hello Everyone,
As many of us are stuck inside due to COVID-19, I figured that I would create some polls and see what the community is into. Starting off, what is your favorite setting/era for male combat?
For me, it is probably Greco-Roman. I'm a major fan of the classics I guess you could say. A oiled up warrior fighting for glory, money, or survival in the coliseum in front of a variety of spectators, only to have a sword thrust to the gut end his dreams and his life.

I guess I never thought about this but I think same as your's only...the reality of it as depicted (sort of) in GLADIATOR is a sad gritty, disgusting one. I guess I prefer a fantasy version of that but NOT with monsters, trolls, ogres, and other outlandish monsters and aliens ...my fetish likes it to be man vs man, period and most hits probably weren't in the navel or gut area either but more toward neck and chest (ewl) or even legs. So I guess fantasy outweighs any real setting for me: an arena mostly is the setting I want. But any knife, sword, spear to the navel area will do!

You are correct, the reality of a gladiator is a generally a life of a slave, but there were some men who entered for glory. The neck and chest are much more effective targets for instantly ending the match, but a blade to the gut as a certain appeal to which I think most of us would agree. In the end, its all historical fantasy, so just take the parts that you like and season to taste!

Definitely Greco-Roman for me. The thought of naked gladiators in the arena or soldiers in battle is what turns me on. Adding some grime and sweat makes it even better. I could be winner or loser in the scenario, it really doesn't matter.

Good pole.
One category I think that's missing is the Jungle Adventures.
Tarzan hand to hand fighting, tribal sacrifices and being tested are great for combat fantasy.
Likewise the mythical Beast Master, Connan style barbarian themes.
Guess Science Fiction would cover the warrior fantasy.

For me, it has to be the Ancient Greek and Ancient Roman era - naked unarmed fights and wrestling matches under the blazing sun, between naked, heavy hung muscled fighters, dripping with oil and sweat, in arenas, fighting pits or at private parties or banquets.

I like this poll! I fancy myself a student of history so nearly all the choices appeal to me in some way with the exception of "modern day". Sci-Fi is interesting though. The Roman era has always been a source of enjoyment for me so the Arena style settings are great. But so are the many possible battle situations a young, handsome, virile Roman soldier like myself (LOL) could be in.
Military themes are so many & varied how could one not appreciate them? From the American civil war to the British vs Zulu battles, WW2 is just loaded with possibilities you have to love them. But, if I had to pick just one, I'd have to go with the American old west setting. I just love that one; men & boys trying to prove themselves or defend themselves sometimes against all odds!
Thanks for this poll. It sets the mind racing!

Plenty of Greco/Roman fans here. It's not that I don't like the other eras, but one fought with nothing but stabbing weapons yielded by bare-chested men covers a lot of things I like! fun poll!

I think a mix of all of the above. I like variety. I guess fantasy would cover it best: I loathe realism when it comes to the fetish. The more like the old Indian paint Native vs native/ junlge/ gladiator/pirate/Chang Cheh karate spear/sword/knife/vikings, 80s cheaper sword and sorcery (though do NOT want the sorcery end of things at all) MOVIES the better. I prefer things in the past and shirtless and BLOODLESS. I prefer ancient scenarios. Once you start in modern day with knifings, home invasions, gym fights, etc, things don't usually do it for me. That said, a sc fi arena in the future with shirtless hot 20 somethings fightings it out to the death with belly buttons are the targets is HOT. My fetish is pretty specific but wide open to a change in settings as long as there is little to NO blood, everyone has their navels on display if they are fit (I don't like FAT at all), and there is some kind of (though not necessary every time) sexual overtones or undertones.

Personally, I can enjoy any setting where I can have two (or more) shirtless guys fighting with knives, swords or other bladed weapons (guns and arrows are fine as well, but I prefer melee engagements). That said, I tend to prefer modern day settings, although I like to have them mixed with more "fantastic" scenarios that aren't based on real life situations; an example of what I mean would be the Modern Gladiators series, which has a modern day setting but also a (sort of) sci-fi plot that ultimately serves as a justification to have shirtless guys in jeans stabbing each other in the belly (which I personally love).
Besides modern day, Greco Roman is a close second for me; that kind of setting lends itself very well to our kink, I think. Military would be my third favourite, as long as it focuses on close combat.
Also, like other users, an excess of realism tends to turn me off, although I don't really mind blood; realism (or lack thereof), for me, tends to be more in other details such as the victim's reactions, which is the kind of thing that would turn me off if it felt too realistic.
