this VERY hot man was very aware of his gay fans and by all intents and reported purposes not at all phobic or put off by it which, for his time, was a great thing. In fact there rare two books that go on about how before a certain time/era, gay and male to male relations (see the more serious and early EAST SIDE/DEAD END kid movies for shirts off hugging, etc) were not thought of as bad. Also see : BOOTS MALONE which, if nothing else is a love story between a young male jockey and a former gambler.
