Why do all the great gladiator arena scenes have to be filled with boring talk, het romances, and long winded politics? In any case, this movie has a great gladiator scene that can only be equaled by the later peplum gladiator arena stuff (but those too have long stretches of boredom).

Nah. Gladiator has that and that movie didn't do it that great. I Mean I like it less real, less blood, more like boy play than actual realism. I don't like realistm. I like the older gladiator movies in arenas. more imaginative

Seems the re-make of many older classics does make money.
I agree the style of these early productions is appealing so remakes may be 'over the top'.
I'd still like to see a modern '10 Gladiators' and alike.
