Why do all the great gladiator arena scenes have to be filled with boring talk, het romances, and long winded politics? In any case, this movie has a great gladiator scene that can only be equaled by the later peplum gladiator arena stuff (but those too have long stretches of boredom).

I agree the style of these early productions is appealing so remakes may be 'over the top'. I'd still like to see a modern '10 Gladiators' and alike.
