Even when the legion had a day off, they never rested. They put on a Field Day for the locals. It was a chance to show off their fighting skills, and eliminate the need to feed and care for prisoners. Captives were given a sword and were pitted against seasoned warriors. It never ended well for the captives.

I added a couple more photos for Bellyboy. I agree, Bellyboy, if I could not be one of the fighters, I would be one of the spectators shooting his load.
