How can I prepare a somewhat fair fight with these two?

Should I give some armor to the barbarian? Should I strip the gladiator? 

Or maybe would be fun to give more armor the gladiator and totally strip the barbarian?

I think the Gladiator can use more armor. a bit of shin guards and armor guards. Meanwhile the barbarian can be in wolf skins: Wolf fur loincloth. and a wolf head cape, fighting with a pair of large bone claws. The unbalance between the Gladiator and the Barbarian in terms of armor and attack power should make of an interesting fight both in the fight itself and uncertainly that will keep audience hooked.

Gladiator is fine as is, the barbarian should be just a loin cloth. Being totally covered up with the bear costume covers his muscular build and isn't particularly useful in a battle either. If your plan is for these 2 to fight, let's be able to see where the weapons penetrate.

Usually I draw a sketch and then I commission some local artist to finish it.
