Brutus and Atticus had fought each other in the arena before, but both had survived. This would be the last show for Brutus. His cock and balls would bring a good sum from an admiring fan.

A spear through the side and all the way through the rib cage is a little unusual in arena art. I'm glad to see it here. It's a kill that would only be possible with a huge shaft outfitted with a massive spearhead. (I'm referring to their weapons.)

The winner's foot pressed against the skewered body of the loser for leverage is a hot detail and very practical. it will be difficult to extract the spear from the loser's body after he has been gored through the ribs.
