I didn't know about Pat Hidy and am really glad you shared that hot gargoyle illustration and its meaning for you. The tribute images are great. One difference from the original that I like is that the killer is not pushing the victim's head back. The defeated man can look down and see the insertion of the sword into his body, rather than just feel it. I think you got the blood down really well, and the location of the insertion is great too. For me that area just below the sternum is a "sweet spot," because a sword shoved in at that point not only enters the chest cavity, it destroys the man's diaphragm and prevents him from breathing when he can no longer work his lungs. Judging from the amount of deathcum, it looks as if the doomed warrior likewise thinks it's a sweet spot.
