The prisoners had no hope to came out alive of the platform, however, there is the leyend of Tlahicole, a tlaxcaltecan warrior of amazing strenght who killed at least 8 aztec knights and wounded a lot more.
The aztec tlahtoani (emperor) himself went to offer him a rank among his army, but Tlahuicole rejected the offer saying that he would rather die fighting than live as a traitor.
